We are guided by our belief that a world where everyone can participate in creating relevant, accurate and culturally conscious local news and information is one where everyone can more fully engage in civic life, make more informed decisions, and better understand the world around them.
The Tiny News Collective works to make news entrepreneurship accessible and achievable to more people from a much broader range of professional, educational and lived experiences than are currently represented in our media ecosystem.
Our mission is to help people build quality, sustainable local news organizations in their communities by providing technology, resources, training, coaching and community with fellow local news founders.
We are a small, collaborative, distributed team that is highly communicative through Slack and weekly meetings where everyone has the opportunity to hear from and learn about what others are working on. In addition to our operating team, we are also guided by the experience and input of our board and advisors.
We look for deeply collaborative people who share our commitment to build a more equitable future for local journalism. We welcome applicants from a broad range of professional and education backgrounds. If you feel like you’d be a good fit but you’re worried that your experience might not be exactly aligned with what we’ve posted in this job description, please consider applying anyway.
